With sweet placement in between headlining artists and warm-ups, Jed Antonio, simply known as "Jed," killed it at the Guam Live International Music Festival held in June.

Hundreds of thousands of streams off Spotify and heavy rotation on Guam's radio waves solidify that his time has finally come.

Just a few years ago, he was a relatively unknown rapper, Snoozix, graced the Guam Live stage briefly as a filler act.

At 21, Jed is all grown up with that’s evolved beyond his previous incarnation.

"I've been writing my whole life, poems and songs," he says. "But it wasn't refined. Once I got to middle school, I was in basketball, and I needed an outlet."

That outlet was music, mostly hip-hop centric thanks to a love for BET, Ja Rule and the Asian rapper Jin.

While once a rapper, Jed is now a full-fledged singer smoothing through the vocals of the wildly popular "Low," which he wrote with Charlotte Mercado. His vocals are influenced mostly by Neo and John Legend.

"I always loved singing when I was a kid, but I wasn't much of a singer. Rapping was different jamming all these words into one line and making it sound cool. But the trends started to peak again with R&B again and for some reason trap soul. That's a mixture of rap and R&B, and that's the best bridge to happen to this generation. If I could do hip hop and sing at the same time, it just makes perfect sense."

Jed is tracking at about 30,000 listeners on Spotify each month and more than a thousand in sales on iTunes with "Low." He's since linked up with Dreamstorm Productions to produce his music videos and help form and push his image.

At the moment, Jed's writing a ton more for an upcoming EP. He also will perform at several concerts and in the middle of it all, he's joined the Dreamstorm team as a sound engineer.

"It's hard to say that it was unexpected but it happened so fast," he says.
